Margaret Barry is the Owner, Producer, and Director of Exit 6 Productions, specializing in creating budget-friendly videos for nonprofits. Her films, known for their compelling documentary style, effectively tell the stories of nonprofit organizations, forging emotional connections with donors, supporters, and volunteers. These videos are crucial for her clients’ marketing and fundraising efforts, and they have a proven track record of success. Margaret’s leadership, strategic vision, and ability to execute innovative projects have been instrumental in driving success for a number of nonprofit organizations.
Her work has significantly impacted the fundraising efforts of several notable organizations. Recent clients include Austin’s BookSpring, Keep Austin Fed, Avance and Drive a Senior.
Many clients have reported substantial increases in funds raised at events that featured her films. One such organization, Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Services, raised $350,000 during a one-hour luncheon, after showing Margaret’s 11-minute documentary-style video about the organization’s foster care programs.
In addition to her work for nonprofits, Margaret produces and directs documentary short films that are shown in film festivals nationwide. Her first film, The Polish Hotel (2016), marked the beginning of her journey in filmmaking. The 24-minute film showed at the Circle Cinema in Tulsa, and at the Tallgrass Film Festival in Wichita, in the “Extraordinary Feature-ettes” category.
Her 9-minute short documentary, The Best Little Tiny Park in Texas, will premiere July 24 , 2026, at The San Antonio Film Festival.
Margaret is an avid film enthusiast and a regular at the Austin Film Society. She enjoys traveling and has visited 40 countries so far. She lives in the Highland neighborhood of Austin.
Margaret has held director-level positions in media relations and marketing communications at Columbia University, New York University, the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School and the University of Notre Dame. She is a journalism graduate of the University of Kansas and earned a master’s degree in art history from Brown University.
